October 2007 - Grandma's Recipe

For our 1st ever Cooking Club, it will be Tuesday, October 9th at 7:00 pm. I will be hosting (I am Kari Kawa), my address is 2073 South 1600 West. The theme for Cooking Club is "Grandma's Recipe". I have too many favorite recipes from my grandma - so this will be easy for me. Find an old family favorite and bring it to my house for a girls night out. Hope to see you there! If you have any questions, my number is 294-0346.

Thanks you guys - I did cooking club in St. Louis - they are still doing it there, and it was the best. Every month it came on a day when I really needed to just get away. I think it will be really fun. It is where I made some of my best friends. See you on Tuesday!

APPLE CRISP

4 cups sliced apples
1/4 cup water
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt

Topping:
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup flour
1/3 cup softened butter

Mix apples, water, cinnamon, and salt. Put into 8" glass baking dish (I used a 9x9 glass dish).

Mix sugar, flour and butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples. Bake for 40 min. at 350 degrees. Serve warm with half-and-half, whipping cream or vanilla ice cream. (Or, heaven forbid whipped topping! ha ha)
